“4. Every valley shall be exhalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain: 5. And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.”

The prophet Isaiah is giving us a prophecy of one named John the Baptist. His life on earth was many years later, but what we can see is that there was one that would walk ahead of Jesus preaching repentance. In vs 4 of the context it is evident that One was coming to save mankind from the destruction of sin. There are four people mentioned in verse 4: the valley, the mountain/hill, the crooked, and the rough. All of these people are unrighteous, but when Christ died it made a way for all to become righteous. Lets talk about the mountain and hill type of people for today. There are a lot of hunters that walk on the mountains and hills of this sin cursed earth. Giving way to the god of success is nothing more than a deception from the devil and a life full of pride and arrogance. There are many sportsman that believe because they’ve killed a monster buck or many trophy class animals, they are right with God. God hates pride, self will and mountain tops of the sinful. Is your mountain top because of Jesus Christ? If you feel like your on the mountain top today because of yourself, there is only two things that it could mean: either your lost and bound for hell, or your a born again believer that is out of the will of God. Matthew 16:26 “For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” The biggest buck in the world will never get you to heaven, neither will a room full record book animals. Your ways are not God’s ways, and your thoughts are not God’s thoughts (Isaiah 55:8). How many deer have you killed on Sunday when you should have been in church? Maybe you didn’t kill any on Sunday, but you spent your time trying to! Your mountain top of pride is destroying your life, your family, your finances, and most importantly your eternity. Romans 13:14 “But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.” Hunting is a false god to many sportsmen and sportswomen, but Jesus Christ died to bring you off that mountain top of pride and self will. He loved you! Mountain tops are great when Jesus is the One that helped you get there! Don’t let hunting destroy you, it will chain you to this world of sin. Jesus Christ was crowned with thorns, beaten with whips, and nailed to a cross because he loved you. Why do you reject Him? Why do you refuse to believe in what He did for you? Revelation 21:8 “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters(people who put hunting before God), and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” Your name can be written in the book of life today, but the Bible says you must believe it with all your heart. Believe what with all your heart? That Jesus died, was buried, and rose again from the dead. You must call upon the name of the Lord in prayer and confess that Jesus is the Son of God and rose from the grave for your sin. Acts 16:30-31 tells us how the Philippian jailer got saved, the great thing about this story is that it applies to all! “……and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved,…….”
