“Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.”

Take a close look at the word burden. Who doesn’t haven’t one? The word righteous makes it apparent that the Bible is speaking to the believer. All believers carry a burden of some form. Noah Webster defined burden as a load; that which is borne with labor or difficulty; that which is grievous; wearisome or oppressive. The closer a believer walks with the Lord the heavier the load can become! This verse of scripture is a great reason why believers should read there Bible’s every day. The biggest problem believers have is trying to carry their own burdens. God gave us His Word to prove to us we cant make it without Him. Look at the word cast. What does that mean? Picture in your mind for a moment the fishing pole you like to take to the lake. What do you do with the lure? You cast it of course! You throw it away from you! That is what God is telling us to do with our burdens. We are not to just cast it away from us, the Bible tells us we are to cast it to the Lord. What is your burden today? Maybe a lost loved one? A wayward child? A relationship? Only you know the burden! Matthew 11:28-30 “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” These are the words of Jesus. He died for us to save us and He saved us so He can take care of our burdens and help us through everything. Today you may have some heavy burdens in your life, you cant carry them on your own, give it to Jesus! Look what the rest of the Psalm says “he shall sustain thee”. The word sustain means to bear; to uphold; to support. Numbers 23:19 “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” God is faithful! Stop trying to carry these burdens alone, “Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.”
