“14. Wherefore hear the word of the LORD, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem. 15. Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves: 16. Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste. 17. Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.”

What is the foundation of your life? Is it family? Friends? Materialism? Hunting or Fishing? In this context of scripture we see that the rulers of Jerusalem(Vs 14) are misleading the nation. They are trusting in their ways rather than the ways of God. Vs 16 is the key to today’s devotion. At this point in time this is a prophecy of the One who will come in the future. A true stone, or better yet, our Rock! Notice how vs 16 says “a sure foundation”. This is a prophecy of Jesus Christ! He is the only one that can guide us through life! He is the only one that can save us. Be careful of who you follow. These rulers of Jerusalem have brought a curse upon their own heads because they were chosing man’s ways, rather than God. Psalm 118:8 “It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.” Have you ever built your foundation upon the True Corner Stone? The Bible tells us not just here, but many other places in the Bible that WE MUST BELIEVE! “…..he that believeth shall not make haste.” When we look at vs 17 of the main context we can see that judgement is ahead, but “he that believeth” has nothing to worry about. Romans 10:11 “For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.” What is your foundation? Who is you foundation? Its unfortunate that many sportsman go through life with religion, or even without religion, thinking that creation is the path to a relationship with God. The only way to have a true relationship with God is making Jesus Christ your sure foundation. Its not about religion, but is about a relationship. You could kill the biggest buck in the world and still die and go to hell. We live in a world today where people refuse to hear the truth! John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” So here is the truth, if you have built your foundation in anyone or anything other than Jesus Christ, the Bible says, you are bound for hell. The Bible also tells us that hell is real. Luke 16:22-23 “….the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments,…….” If man could make it to heaven and have victory in this life their own way, that would mean Jesus Christ died for no reason. The Bible says Jesus Christ is God, but you have to believe that! Remember, “Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.” Have you made Jesus Christ your foundation? You can make that decision at this very moment! Acts 4:11-12 “This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Romans makes it very clear to us that accepting Jesus Christ is a decision that must me made in the heart; Romans 10:9-10 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him(Jesus Christ) from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” If you have made hunting, your family, your house, or even a false religion your foundation, you have been greatly deceived. Eternal Salvation is found only in Jesus Christ and we encourage you to make Him your “sure foundation” today! In your own words, pray to the Lord and confess to Him that you are a sinner, that you believe Jesus Christ is God, and you believe in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, but it must be with all your heart! The Bible says when you believe, you shall be saved. Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” The choice is yours! Only you can make that decision! Is Jesus Christ your precious corner stone? If He is not, get that settled today!
