“57. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 28. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”

Why are some hunters so unsuccessful? The Bible tells us in Proverbs 12:27 “The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious.” The focus today in not necessarily the slothful, but more the diligent man. To some hunters they get toward the end of season and they quit early because they cant find success. To others, they start out hunting their first year or two and never find success, so they hang it up and never hunt again. Regardless of what animal you may hunt, it definitely takes time and diligence to learn about that animal. A new hunter or inexperienced hunter may compare themselves to a friend that is an avid hunter and expect hunting to be simple. All it takes to kill a deer is to sit in the woods and wait for him to come by, right! Its not that easy! I’ve been hunting for 25 years and I’m still learning! I still get frustrated! I still get weary, but the last thing I will do is quit. That’s the worst decision I could make! Now hunters may need to quit for a while because its a god to them, but that’s for a different devotion. How is your walk with God? What does it take for you to quit? Is there a particular situation that would hinder you from serving God? Give attention back to verse 58; Notice how the verse starts out, “Therefore”. Any time we see this word in the Bible we need to back up and see what therefore is referring to. Vs 57 says, God gives us our victory through Jesus Christ. I don’t know what you are dealing with today, but the Bible says if your saved, you have the victory! As a result of being saved we need to always trust God to take care of our stresses and struggles of life. Though Paul is writing to the church at Corinth we know that the letter is also to us, as believers. Look at what God is telling us to do as born again believers, “be ye stedfast”, that means to be firm; firmly fixed or established. Next He says “unmoveable”, that would mean, cannot be moved or shaken; firm; fixed. He also says, “always abounding in the work of the Lord”. Are you standing on the Word of God today? Are you soulwinning? Are you faithful in church? Are you trying to love your enemies? You cant do any of these things without Jesus Christ. I Peter 5:8 “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:” The devil wants to stop your work and labor for Jesus Christ. Don’t quit! The Lord tells us, “your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” A hunter that quits because of frustration will never see success! Don’t expect God to move in your life if you quit serving Him! Life is tough, but the Word of God is perfect and He will never fail us! Keep fighting the fight! Keep moving forward! Always make sure your stand is biblical and the way God is leading you! Are you stedfast? Are you unmoveable? Are you always abounding in the work of the Lord? Only you can answer that question!
