” 1. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2. The same was in the beginning with God. 3. All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made. 4. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5. And the light shined in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. 9. That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. 10. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.”

Some states have opened already this season for the elusive whitetail deer. Many states will be opening in the near future for archery season. You are probably excited. So, will your end of season make you any happier than what you are right now? The devil likes to make us think that life is all about hunting, a filled tag, a new 4-wheeler, or even a new bow. Everyone in this world is born with an emptiness or void. A big buck this season will never fill the void. A new piece of hunting ground will not allow the happiness to last for too long. There are a lot of temporary joys that will make you feel better, but they all fade away at some point. Here is a very important question; If you died today, are you 100% sure you will go to heaven? Did you know that 70%, 85%, and 99% is not good enough. The Bible tells us that you can be 100% certain you will go to heaven when you die. The Bible also tells us that if we die in our sins we will pay the consequence in a lake of fire for all eternity. When we look at the scripture today we find some very important truths that are not taught in may religions around the world. Verse one says that God and the Word are the same in one. John 1:14 will tell us a little more about the Word, “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. If you are recognizing that Word is capitol, its because it referring to God in the flesh. His name is Jesus Christ. Here the Bible tells us that Jesus Christ is not just the Son of God, but also, that He is God. “All things were made by him;” Its sad to see the amount of sportsmen that set foot to the field, season after season, enjoying God’s wonderful creation that He gave to us, but then reject the most important truth that has ever been made known. Jesus Christ is the only way to fill the void! “He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and world knew him not.” Do you know Him? Do you know Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour? Maybe this year you will kill the biggest buck of your life, but that’s still not enough. Enjoying creation and acknowledging God’s handy work is not enough to get you to heaven. The Bible says you must believe in the name of Jesus Christ! As hunting season begins there will be many that seek to fill the void again, but even if you kill a deer it will only be a temporary fix. Think about this for a minute; God created the world, it then became cursed because of Adam’s disobedience. Rather than man having to pay the consequence, God became a man(Jesus Christ) and willingly laid down His life to pay for our sin debt. Even as Christ hung on the cross, with His love and compassion He had for them He says, “Father forgive them, for they know not what they do.” He didn’t have to come, but He did because He loved you. Actually, this could be the best hunting season you’ve ever had, not because you kill a big one, but because you put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ alone. You can hope and think you may go to heaven, but any belief outside of Jesus Christ leaves you with no hope. Christ died to save you from your sins and fill the empty void that is in your life. You can make the decision at this very moment to be saved from eternal wrath in a lake of fire. Romans 10:9 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” Repentance, faith and trust in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ is all it takes to be saved. Are you wanting to make that decision today? Pray and confess these things to the Lord before its too late. When salvation takes place in one’s life you don’t have to worry about eternity. You can be 100% certain that heaven is your home because God cant lie! I John 5:13 “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” Knowing means knowing, not hoping, not 99% certain!
