“18. Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. 19. Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.”

As a believer, its easy to look at those that get lifted within themselves concerning their accomplishments. A big buck, a new house, a job promotion, and wealth are just a few things that cause people to really think highly of themselves. Before you judge others in their pride, think about what’s going on in your life? What is causing you to be lifted up? Do you brag and boast about the great things God has done in your life? Its great to praise God for what He has done, but be careful about praising yourself! How is your bus route? How is your Sunday School teaching? How is your cleaning ministry or yard mowing going? How is your church growing? How is your preaching? How is the new job? How good was your raise? Is God truly getting all the glory? I believe its easy for us to take the glory for what God does for us! Be very careful! Proverbs 25:27 “It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory.” Proverbs 27:1-2 “Boast not thyself of tomorrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth. Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.” Its a natural reaction to take credit for what God does for us, but remember Proverbs! “Pride goeth before destruction…” Where do you stand today? What accomplishments are lifting you up today? “Better it is to be of an humble spirit…”
