“21. And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught. 22. And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.”

The he in this passage of scripture is Jesus Christ. His life is catching everyone’s attention. Notice in verse 22 that he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes. If your not familiar with a scribe, their basic responsibility was to copy the scriptures. We live in a different day where a press can run off hundreds of thousands of copies of the scriptures, but back then they had to copy every thing with pen and paper. A scribe is a good reminder of who we are seeing today in many local churches. Those who know the stories of the Bible well, but have a terrible testimony of holy living. That is a good picture of what we see religion as today; at the church when the doors are open, they hold a leadership position, but outside the church they might as well be a scribe or Pharisee. Its sad that we see so many believers today living a fake life full of motions. When we get saved we can live just like Jesus Christ did, here on the earth, because we have the Word of God to guide and direct us. II Timothy 2:15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly diving the word of truth.” What do people see in your life right now? Do they see you teaching or preaching with authority? Do they see you living with the Word of God as the final authority in your life? When you teach with authority you should know what you are talking about in the scriptures, but also living your life according to the Word of God. Jesus Christ changed the world. If He has truly changed you, shouldn’t others be seeing that in your life? Take a hunter for an example. Not long ago I was in a local hunting store talking to an avid outdoorsman. I believe the best way to killing a whitetail is to pay very close attention to your wind direction. This hunter explains how he just goes out to hunt and can kill a deer without all the scent control or paying much attention to the wind. Then I asked him, Did you get one last year? You will never guess what he said! No! He never killed a deer last season. So here is a hunter that has killed deer at times in his life by using his methods, but he’s not successful very often. I like to kill big bucks! I want to know the best way to kill one. When I look at a trophy room I want to have confidence in what the hunter is willing to teach me. Back to being a Christian. The more you know about the Word of God, the more you will help others! Jesus talked with authority because He knew what He was talking about. It changed lives! People got saved! Today, our churches are falling apart because the leaders and the members are not living in the Word of God like they should and sadly they are not even believing it! What are people seeing in your life right now? A follower of Jesus Christ or a scribe? DB

II Timothy 2:15

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

“1. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 4. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.”

Have you ever had a dry season? I’m sure you could say yes! There are days you feel like your not even a hunter any more. A season or two may pass by and you return from the field unsuccessful. Whether a deer, turkey, small game, or big game hunter, it gets frustrating! It can even take a toll on you mentally, if you really like to hunt. Now go to that feeling when you finally break the streak! You are renewed when that big o’l groundhog hits the dirt or even a big fat doe for the freezer. It feels good, doesn’t it! Its like you turn into a new person filled with joy because success has returned! Do you know the Christian walk is similar sometimes? There are tough days! There are days you don’t even feel like a Christian because the trials become so heavy, you cant figure out where God is at! Don’t be discouraged, God knows right where you are at! He is testing you! Look at what He says to the children of Israel after they make it through 40 years of wandering in the wilderness, Deuteronomy 8:2 “And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.” The Christian walk can really have dark days, but know that God is just seeing how much you really trust Him. Its easy to trust Him on a mountain top, but are you trusting Him in the valley? Why does Psalm tell us that the Lord is an unwanted shepherd? Its because He leads us through places that we don’t feel comfortable! Its down a path that we don’t necessarily choose for ourselves. Maybe lately its felt dark to you. How can you answer this question? Are you trusting Him in your valley? Psalm 23 is such a familiar and refreshing Psalm. Give special attention to verse 3, the Bible says, “He restoreth my soul…” God loves you! He will never leave you or forsake you! He may chasten you so you will turn from your sin, but its because He wants whats best for his children. Are you seeking Him today with all you can? There is always restoration in Jesus Christ, but you must lean on Him and trust Him through your journey. Having a dry spell with no success can be very frustrating, but when the success returns, its a great feeling! Again, God know right where you are at! Look at Matthew 14:32 “And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.” The disciples have just went through a difficult storm. They, along with Peter nearly sink because they took their eyes off of Jesus during the storm. Jesus even condemns Peter for not having faith through the difficult situation. Regardless of their response, there was still a calm that took place! Their souls were restored when the storm was ended, and the Bible says, they worshiped Him because of His greatness! Stick with it! God will restore you! He loves you and is doing what is best for you! Are you trusting Him?

Psalm 23:3

“He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.”

“27. And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of my master Abraham, who hath not left destitute my master of his mercy and his truth: I being in the way, the LORD led me to the house of my master’s brethren. 40. And he said unto me, The LORD, before whom I walk, will send his angel with thee, and prosper thy way; and thou shalt take a wife for my son of my kindred, and of my father’s house:”

The servant of Abraham has been sent to Abraham’s home land to find a wife for Isaac. Going to a foreign country to find a wife can be quite a journey, but remember the Bible says with God all things are possible. Have you ever answered the call to God’s journey for your life? Maybe today you are in the center of the journey but not sure what to do. The journey can become weary at times, but know that God is always faithful. In verse 40 there are 4 words to focus on today, “and prosper thy way”. One thing about this servant is that he has observed God’s faithfulness to Abraham’s life even though Abraham made some bad decisions. This servant is in great need of God’s guidance, and so he asks God to be very direct with finding the right wife for Isaac. As he is at the well, he asks God that if one of the women that come to the well, offers not just himself a drink, but also his camel’s, it would be evidence that she was the one. In verse 40 everything happened just as God directed him and he is now relaying the story to the family of Rebekah, who is of the kindred of Abraham. One thing that was certain in the story is that God was very direct and again and again God has shown his faithfulness, because the way of the servant was a prosperous one. Many Christians today are not living a prosperous journey because they are not trusting God every step of the way. Joshua 1:8 “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” Do your best to not make bad decisions through your journeys of the Christian walk. What happens is that the journey becomes weary and the skies become cloudy, but know, that is the devil trying to hinder your way. God is very direct! Don’t make any decision unless you know God is telling you to step a certain direction. Your way will be prosperous! Your way will have much success, if you will listen to the leading of the Holy Spirit. God never sends us on journeys to fail, but He does allow affliction to see if we truly will trust Him in all things. How is your walk today? Are you reading your Bible day and night? Are you allowing God to direct your decisions in the ministry He has called you to? The land of Canaan to Ur of the Chaldees was a long journey. Not knowing exactly where to go was even tougher, but God showed his faithfulness and the servant returned with Rebekah. Your way will be prosperous! Keep trusting and leaning on Him!!

Memory Verse Week 6/22/20

Joshua 1:8

“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth: but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”

11. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. 12. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. 13. Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.”

Have you ever bit into a deer steak that had bad salt or no salt? Its sad that some people have a bad experience with wild game and refuse to eat it the rest of their life. Salt is a key ingredient in wild game. It really helps draw out the game flavor and give it a good taste. When we look at verse 13 we must realize that the salt is referring to those that have been saved. How is your testimony today? Do you have a desirable flavor or are you no good? Life can be very difficult, especially when you take a stand for Jesus Christ. Today we see Christians all around the globe losing their freshness for serving the Lord because of some affliction they went through. Do you believe the Bible today? Look at verse 12, “for great is your reward in heaven:” All these things on earth are nothing but wood, hay and stubble. Our joy will always and only be found in Jesus Christ. Why cant we rejoice in persecution? Could it be because we are more concerned about what man thinks, rather than what God thinks? A lot of Christians fit in with the crowd, they don’t like feeling uncomfortable, so they just go with the flow. Look again what God says about Christians who lose their savor, “it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out…” There is coming a day that all believers will stand before God and give an account of how they lived their life, here on earth. What will your reward be? Are you continuing to be the salt of the earth or have you lost your savor? Being rejected is never a fun or natural thing. How can someone possibly rejoice when they are persecuted and cast aside? Its because their hope is found in Jesus Christ. When you get down and discouraged try your best to tell someone about what Jesus Christ did for them on the cross. It will change their life, just like in changed yours! How is your walk today? Are you losing your savor? Stay faithful to God’s Word. You never know what scripture He will use to strengthen your heart! Psalm 138:7-8 “Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me. The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O Lord, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.”

Memory Verse Week 6/15/20

Matthew 5:13

“Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.”

“3. And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground and offering unto the LORD. 4. And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering: 5. But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. 6. And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? 7. If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.”

Why didn’t God accept Cain’s offering? We tend to look at man’s way and say, “At least he tried.” One thing we must realize is that we cannot serve God the way we choose too. John 4:24 “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.” So what exactly is the truth? John 8:32 “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Knowing the truth can be found only in Jesus Christ. John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” So why did God not accept Cain’s offering? Its because he missed the importance of the blood sacrifice. Cain brought to God the work of his own hands. Notice what Genesis 3:23 says about Adam and Eve when they were removed from the Garden of Eden; “Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.” Tilling of the land was now done by the hands of man. Cain was bringing to God his own work “the fruit of the ground.” Abel was accepted of God because he brought the firstlings of his flock. As you continue reading the Bible you will see that the sacrifice was an innocent lamb without spot and without blemish, which is a picture of Jesus Christ. Look at what Peter says about Jesus in I Peter 1:19 “But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:” God loved Cain, but Cain’s work was not good enough for his salvation. Even though Cain failed, God gave him another opportunity to make it right. Cain was so angry that he killed his brother Abel. It’s sad that the first human being ever born was a murderer and is still suffering in hell today, because he rejected the blood sacrifice. It does not matter what kind of person you are, it doesn’t matter what church you go to, or how nice you are, if you have never accepted the blood sacrifice for your sins. Romans 3:10 still says “As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one:” We are all sinners, but when Jesus Christ died on the cross He made the way for all to be saved! Don’t leave this word without believing and confessing that Jesus died, was buried, and rose again the third day. You will end up just like Cain. Separated for all eternity! You might say, “Well, I never killed anyone like Cain did.” But what does the Bible say? Revelation 21:8 “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolators, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” Whether a murderer or a liar there will still be eternal punishment. Abel was accepted because of the blood sacrifice? Have you ever been saved? Have you ever trusted Christ as your personal Lord and Savior? If your alive and breathing, God is still giving you an opportunity just as He did for Cain! Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” When you call upon Him, you are simply repenting of your sin and believing in your heart on the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Make that decision today, before its to late!

Memory Verse Week 6/8/20

John 8:32

“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

“23. And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely: 24. Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks. 25. And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. 26. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed. 27. And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled. 28. But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here. 29. Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, 30. And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? 31. And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.”

Paul and Silas have just been beaten with whips because of their stand for Jesus Christ. Not only are they throne in prison, but their feet are placed in the stocks. Stocks is a machine consisting of two pieces of timber, in which the legs of criminals are confined by way of punishment. After all this affliction, notice how you find Paul and Silas in verse 25 “And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God:” They are actually singing! Can you believe that? Is your situation really that bad? We act like a little bit of affliction is to hard for us, but its nothing compared what Paul and Silas went through. One powerful thought we can take from this passage is that you never know who is watching you. Let me ask; What are others seeing in you life right now? Are they seeing something different? Are they seeing Jesus Christ living within you? Most of the time people see pride in us, more than they see Jesus. There are more people watching you than you realize. In the life of Paul and Silas we can see the real testimony of what a Christian should be. The Christ like attitude they had in this situation was a great reflection of Jesus Christ as He hung on the cross dying for our sins. Jesus looked out to the hateful crowd and said, “Father forgive them for they know not what they do.” It made such and impression on the life of a thief that he trusted Christ before he died that day. The same thing happened with Paul and Silas. The jailor is ready to take his own life because he thinks the prisoners have escaped. Paul had already been singing that night. He not only made an impression on the prisoners, but also on the jailor. God’s will for our lives is not always easy. Some days its with much affliction, but God has a purpose to it all. A jailor and his family was saved because of Paul and Silas’ response during their affliction. Its because they were praising God in their low times of life! What is your story? What if there is someone in your life right now that is on the edge of suicide? Their just waiting to take their last breath. There so empty they can’t deal with life anymore. What are they seeing in you? Would your life have such and impact on them that they would say, “What must I do to be saved?” Acts 16:31 “And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.”

Memory Verse Week 5/25/20

Acts 16:31

“And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.”

“4. When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed. 5. Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay. 6. Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither say thou before the angel, that it was an error: wherefore should God be angry at thy voice, and destroy the work of thine hands?”

Many years ago, the Ohio turkey season opened with a great success. I was hoping to get my sister her first bird, but the Tom in the field would not close the distance. I slipped out of the blind and belly crawled to the decoy. As I made a movement toward the Tom, he quickly changed his course and came my way. It was exciting! My sister even captured it on film! Season opened well, but unfortunately it ended with some great lessons learned. As we approached the second week of season the birds were everywhere. I took a friend on his very first turkey hunt. We went into state land without scouting and a group of jakes made their way up the ridge. I encouraged him to squeeze the trigger before they got out of his shooting zone. The bird went down! Actually, two birds went down. Not a big deal! Right? There is a problem! We both work for the state as Natural Resource Officers. We did the right thing and turned ourselves in. We were not game wardens, but he did show up later. Talk about feeling like an idiot. The case went to the prosecutor and thankfully they didn’t charge him. It was an accident, but it did cause a bit of stress and embarrassment. I wish it I could say the season ended there, but I can’t. Its now the last week of season, and I still have my second tag. A friend invited me to a farm he had permission to hunt, with hopes of a bird, before the last few days of season ended. As we pulled into the drive, there he was! Strutting out in the middle of the field. We circled him and then I belly crawled a good distance to where he was. As I got into place he was on the edge of my shooting window when I took the first shot. I fired two more shots and missed him every time. As I stood in frustration I caught the glimpse of some movement in the direction of where my first shot rang out. Uh Oh!! It was a hen that was on her last breath. I didn’t even see her there and still don’t know how I hit her. What’s really bad about this situation is that my friend that brought me here is also the game warden. The case was investigated and I sat in stress for two weeks with the plan of having to pay a citation for shooting a hen out of season. By the grace of God the prosecutor chose not to charge me. Again, it was an accident. A season that started out so well, ended with nothing more than correction. Hebrews 12:6 “For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.” Sounds like a run of bad luck rather than chastisement. Looking back at that year, its hard for me not to think of Ecclesiastes 5:4. Before turkey season started that year I was trying to make better financial decisions to get out of debt. I made a vow to the Lord weeks before turkey season opened up saying, I would only buy one turkey tag this season. A few days before season opened I revoked my vow and said I would buy a second tag if I fill my first one. That is a season I will never forget! Looking at the main passage its important to remember that its better to not make a vow, than to make one and break it. God dealt with me in a difficult way that year, but it taught me some great truths about the Bible. God is faithful! He is faithful in love and He is faithful in chastisement. Don’t break you vows to God, it will really hurt your relationship and cause great strife in your life. Be faithful to God for what you say you will do! He will always honor your faithfulness! You can even apply this to friendships. Are you able to have a close friendship with others when their word is no good? Of course not! If your a Christian, do your best to make only vows you can keep! Do you really want to be labelled as a fool? Is it really worth broken relationships? I can tell you by experience, its not worth it. It does not matter how big or how small the vow may be. Don’t learn the hard way!(Darren Barnett)

Memory Verse Week 5/11/20

Ecclesiastes 5:4

“When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed.”

“16. For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief. 17. Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth: 18. Lest the LORD see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.”

What makes a just man fall? It seems like the Christian walk can have a lot of failure. The devil is always trying to find a way to get you to fail. You look at the life of Job and Joseph and you will see they both went through some great difficulties. Sometimes falling can come from a lack of faith, but many times it can come from an enemy. The perfect world would be every church and every believer being kind, supportive, and loving in all that you do, but unfortunately that’s not the case. Who are some people in your life right now that may cause you to fall? The pastor? A deacon? A church body? A friend or family member? An enemy? A co-worker? There are many people in your life that you may feel are your friends, but then something happens and it causes you to go through hurt and doubt. Where do we get our strength to rise again? Notice what Psalm 118:8 says, “It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.” When we trust in man, we will always fall. What are you dealing with today? Are you rising over your enemies? Are you living in victory? The devil wants you to quit. Its sad, but he will use close people in your life to knock you down. Are you trusting in the Lord? Have you made Jesus Christ the center of your life? Proverbs is telling us that no matter how many times we fall, we can always get up again, but we must be trusting in the Lord. There may be some people in your life that have tried to steal away your joy, but remember that vengeance belongs to the Lord. God will judge your enemies. Its human nature to have happiness when we see God begin to judge those we don’t care for, but that’s not how the Bible tells us to live. It says we will displease the Lord when we rejoice over those things. Matthew 5:44 “But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.” You might say, “How can I possibly love my enemy?” The truth is, you can’t! Not in your own power. You must give it to the Lord! He will help you get up again and He will help you love your enemies when you think its not possible. Where are you at today? Do you feel knocked down? Do you feel like your enemies are having victory over you? Don’t quit, you will never see God’s faithfulness! Think about a hunter for a moment, he spends his first few years trying to kill a deer, but find’s no success. Maybe he even hits a dry spell. Does quitting solve the problem? Of course not! Keep at it, keep going, keep asking God for a blessing! He will show up on His time table! Proverbs 24:16 “For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.”

Proverbs 24:16

“For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.”

“13. Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; 14. Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well. 15. For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: 16. As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God. 17. Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.”

Put yourself in this situation for a moment. Your driving down the highway! As you come around the bend you see a vehicle on the side of the road facing into traffic. Its not just a car you see, but also the pretty set of lights on top of the vehicle. Uh Ohh!! What is your first reaction? Most citizens will instantly tap the brake pedal because there is a good chance they are driving over the speed limit. He is another question. Do you live your life like that as a Christian? Is the Word of God really the final authority in your life? Another good example would be to those who love to hunt. As you walk out of the woods you see the game warden waiting for you in the parking lot. Instantly, your heart begins to race! You become very nervous! One of the big reasons for this is because you make it a focus in your life that you will do what you think is right rather than what the law says. Do you think God is happy with His own children when they feel like they have to slam on the brake pedal every time they see a light bar, or a turkey hunter that encounters a game warden thinks to himself, “Oh no, what am I going to say”? We would all be wise to not just read the Bible, but also, do what it tells us to do. Notice verse 13 again, “Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake…” The word ordinance means a rule established by authority. There was a time in Ohio when it was unheard of to see a whitetail deer and the turkey population was not even thought about. The reason for this is because there use to be no hunting regulations. Everything was fair game. Though the government may have many flaws, they did a great job establishing some ordinance’s to protect our wildlife resources. Do you believe the Bible? God wants us to be a testimony of Jesus Christ in everything that we do. You will have trouble keeping a right relationship with God if you pick and choose which ordinance’s you want to follow. God is very direct in Verse 13, He says, “for the Lord’s sake.” In the book of Acts, Peter was thrown in jail for preaching. The angel of the Lord released him and gave him direction to go back and continue to preach. The rulers came to him again and condemned him for what he was doing, but Peter responds, “We ought to obey God rather than man.” We have a responsibility to reach this lost and dying world with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Don’t ever allow the government to make you disobey God, but remember that if its not sinful, we need to be servants. Again verse 17 “Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.” So here is the big question. The next time you get checked by the game warden; Will your testimony allow you to witness to him? Or will you be guilty of a game law violation? Game wardens die and go to hell without Jesus Christ just like everyone else in the world. God didn’t save you to live in sin, He saved you to win the lost, including public servants. Make this hunting season be the most honest one you’ve ever had!

Memory Verse Week 4/27/20

“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”

Light! What a great thing! Every turkey hunter gets excited for the first hint of light for the morning! As you sit still in darkness you will notice the birds began to sing and the forest comes alive. What tops it off is when a big o’l gobblers sounds off for the first time. Things get exciting. As the sun continually rises, you begin to see everything around you and the turkey choir begins to sing! These are very memorable mornings! If you read the first part of John 8 you will read about the woman taken in adultery. The scribes and Pharisees bring her to Jesus with hopes of stoning her, but as Jesus begins to write in the sand they begin to disappear one by one. The Bible says they were convicted by their own conscience as they left. We don’t know exactly what Jesus was writing, but it seems it had to do with their own sin. Jesus then forgives this adulteress woman and says to her, “go, and sin no more.” Its important to realize that Jesus did not come to condemn the world. He came to save it. John 1:9-10 “That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and world knew him not.” The Light is talking of Jesus Christ, and the Bible says He is the only one that can give light in this dark world we live in. Why would you want to sit in the dark all night? Can you imagine waiting for that first turkey to sound, but you never hear one because the sun never came up. In a very short period of time every thing in the world would begin to die off. The sun gives light, but it also gives life! God and Jesus Christ are the same in one. Our Creator God gave us a physical example of what life would be like without the sun, it would be death! One day everyone is going to die! The Bible says that you will go to one of two places: the lake of fire or heaven. Where will you go? If Jesus Christ forgave and adulterous woman, why would He not forgive you? The Bible says that Jesus Christ is the light of the world and He is the only way to have life! He died to forgive you of all your sins! Why would you not except that? He loves you! He paid for it all so you can live forever with Him! Before you can get saved you must admit that your lost. Luke 19:10 “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” There are many people today that call themselves Christians, but yet they have never been lost. It’s not possible to be saved until you realize your lost and bound for a devil’s hell because of sin. Jesus Christ died to pay for your sin! Trust Him today! You must believe with all your heart that Jesus Christ died, was buried, and rose again the third day! Get this; the tomb is empty! He’s not there, He is risen! Salvation is too easy, don’t reject him. John 3:18 “He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” The choice is yours! Will you choose light or darkness? Only you can decide! John 8:12 “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”
